Christine Balk is a Norwegian artist, singer and songwriter, born in 1992. She grew up in Bærum, a town not that far from the capitol Oslo. During her early years she had lots of interests including theatre, dance, football, and of course music. Her childhood was filled with music as her parents both played different instruments, and before long Christine as well started singing. You would often find her behind her mother’s piano making songs, even though she didn’t know how to play.
As she grew older, her interest in music grew with her. At the age of 14 she joined Oslo Soul Children, the biggest choir movement for children in Norway. The participation further impacted her decision to get a bachelor’s degree in performing rhythmical music, and in 2018 she could flaunt her diploma.
Christine is all about making music that can move the listeners hearts, minds and bodies. With her band she delivers energetic and sparkling pop with a touch of RnB. Delicious beats, sassy synths and bags of girl-power is just some of the qualities you can find in her songs. Christine also knows how to use her voice for something other than singing. During the last couple of years, she has been engaged in in the work of the organization A21, who is working to abolish modern slavery. In addition, she cares about the environment, and that people should feel as good about themselves as they possibly can. All of these traits are often used as inspirational sources in her music.
As you can see, Christine Balk is in no way new to the Norwegian music scene. However, her debut single “Still Hold On” didn’t hit the virtual shelves before 2017. After this first tune, her music has been listed on national Norwegian radio, been added to big editorial playlists on Spotify, and she has performed several solo concerts in and around Oslo.
